Wow what a day. Got up early, for a saturday. Saw the girlfirend and best mate, played a good few games of Halo 3, head to head. Won a few, can't understand why I'm a sore loser! Try too hard to win!!
It was nice to have lunch with them, unfortunately had to leave early to make it back home to meet up with a family friend. But had too really as he lives with his wife and kids in Australia. He's had a tough time, he is back in the UK because his father has passed away, the funeral was last friday. He was planning to come with his wife but not until next August. She's waiting patiently in South Australia. I'm told the temp yesterday was 30+ celcius, nice :)
Making the most of my broadband tonight, sorting out my car insurance, using my new router- wireless access!
Oh now I'm getting sleepy......
Just looking back at my last entry, those where the good old days! "..just having one of those days, yeah......music you were playing really blew my mind....do do do" Nothing like good music to cheer you up, its Kylie, Love at first sight.
Thinking about my job situation, need to see how this plays out. Not sure if I can keep up with full-time work at the mo, well tired. :(
Reminds me, must check my lotto numbers. ;)
I'm thinking I'd better write something down as life is good at the mo. You can easily forget the good times if you hit a sticky patch ;)
It's an attempt at a bit of DIY CBT!
Do do do.
Just heard today my friend has passed the first part of his exams, I'm well chuffed for him. Well done mate! Lucky you. now you have more exams. Funny system really, it awards more exams to those that pass them.
Just to prove to some, I'm trying to keep up, here is my entry of the day :)
I'm enjoting Heroes.
Girlfriends mum sums up the reaction nicely.
Well finally got around to using my card reader on my new multipurpose printer, nice ;) It's been painful, my old laptop was broken and repaired but then broke again, only to be repaired again. So I bought a new laptop, a Toshiba Centrino Dual core with Vista. It looks the business but sometimes I think it is slower than my old laptop. Anyway I am a little disappointed with Picasa, I thought it created folders automatically using the date the picture was taken, I just can't seem to get it to do that at the mo. I've ended up with a folder with about 200 pictures!! They are the accumalation of several months snapping, granted mostly of my holiday.
Ooops I'm so lax at this. Oh well. Just back from my hols in Greece, had a lovely time, good company, good weather, lots of ice coffee, some swimming, no sunburn, games to play, read four books, a record for me! Have to say I highly rate Lee Child, he writes a good book. Had some great news whilst on holiday, a job offer, so really can't complain. But I usually do, according to some people. ;)
Don't you just like it when you come across a very deep piece of blog that makes you think. Especially when it fits in with your own health belief. Yeah sure, it applies to mental health too.

It's days like today you should get out of bed so nice and sunny. You know it has an affect on people, they aren't quite as grumpy or sad. It reminds me of the nice weather in Australia. Also the nice people. Thanks to my girl reminding me of a very cherry video link about general practice in the sunny continent. If you are interested its here,
Again, thanks to Alkam.
Had a nice short day today, since I have my half-day on a Monday. Although saying that there are times I wonder if I do have this so called half-day!! Grrr.
But today was interesting. I sat in on a weight management clinic in my health center, organised by the nurse. She really is very good. I think she and her helper were feeling a little lost today. I asked why, big mistake. My favourite topic came up.......AUDIT!
They were looking to see how affective they have been. I don't think they were being fair to themselves really. Trying to motivate change in peoples behavior is no easy task. (Good time to consider the cycle of change, http://complexity.orcon.net.nz/prochaskadiclemente.gif )
If you consider smoking as an example, with will power alone, about 2% will be non-smokers in a years time, not a great statistic. But if they use nicotine replacement therapy that becomes 4-6%, still not great but a smoker is at least twice as likely to quit.
Consider weight loss again, I believe it is just as difficult if not more (that's my excuse!). It is linked to your being, you eat to be sociable, it's a fact that people in groups eat more. Some people eat more to comfort themselves. Some just out of habit (not hobbit! -Alkam)
So we had a chat after the group meeting and I think they were cheered up by reflection.
